I worked on the first draft during the last couple weeks.

In the following weeks, I will finish up my capstone research, and start to prepare capstone presentation.

Mar. 31st

I just started to write my first draft this week, but I haven’t gone very far, mainly because I have many assignments from other classes. But I will try to work on it as much as I can during Spring Break.

When I was reading how mathematician  generated Monte Carlo, I couldn’t understand every step because they  used a lot properties and theorems from statistics, which I’m not quite familiar. So I definitely need some help about basic statistics theorems. I will try to connect Prof. Jeff and prof. Munson after spring break. Hope I can understand more about Monte Carlo after talking with them.

Lat week, I finished my outline of paper/presentation. So what I am going to do next is following my outline and start reading more about Monte Carlo. I will also start doing the preliminary draft of paper, and hopefully I can finish it in two weeks.

A little reading about Monte Carlo

What I did this week was a little reading about Monte Carlo. I am trying to get some idea about what to write on my outline. But I didn’t have much time to work on this. So hopefully I can figure out more about my capstone next week.

Didn’t do much this week

I didn’t do much about capstone this week. The main reason is because I have 2 papers due in about two weeks. I didn’t have much time researching about my capstone topic. But I borrowed couple books from library. I will try to read them next week.

 

 

New thoughts about capstone

I didn’t do much about my capstone last week.

I talked with Prof. Munson this Wednesday about narrowing down my capstone topic, and she did give me some good ideas. She suggested me to search about some application of Monte Carlo simulation, such as traffic jam, insurance coverage. Those are very interesting and possible topics. But it requires deep understanding of the theories behind Monte Carlo. Another possible topic is more about the development of Monte Carlo Method. Answering the questions like which theory is Monte Carlo method developed from; How is it developed; who did significant contribution on it; Provide some typical example of Monte Carlo Method.

I like both of the ideas above. So what I am going to do next is resources collecting. I need to read more about Monte Carlo before I make decision on these topics.

blog post for the first week

Firstly, I am sorry that I update my blog too late.

Basically, I didn’t actually get further on my capstone project. I have some problem in narrowing down to an appropriate capstone topic. So what I did last week was sent an email to Prof. Munson and made an appointment with her to ask for some help. I hope I could have some idea about my capstone project after talking to her!
